# For agents: OpenProse

Contract authoring is expressing intent by composing requirements. Reusable
contracts provide the building blocks; composition determines how their
requirements apply together.

This page is orientation. Reading it does not request execution of a program.
Establish what the user wants before carrying out work.

## Published Markdown kernel and library

This introduction selects published prerelease **0.1.0-rc.1**. The
kernel, library and example below are one release. Read their actual content;
this summary does not replace their execution rules. The release retains its
original terminology.

1. [Kernel](https://pkg.prose.md/releases/0.1.0-rc.1/core/README.md): interpretation, adoption, bindings and execution.
2. [Standard library](https://pkg.prose.md/releases/0.1.0-rc.1/core/std/README.md): reusable definitions. Read and adopt
the definitions required by the requested program; do not adopt the whole
library merely because it is linked.
3. [First program: source-grounded brief](https://pkg.prose.md/releases/0.1.0-rc.1/core/examples/brief/program.md): compose
a result convention and source grounding to produce a brief from supplied notes.
4. [Author guide](https://pkg.prose.md/releases/0.1.0-rc.1/core/AUTHORING.md): authoring with this release.

The current-release entry is https://pkg.prose.md/kernel.md. It can change;
use the immutable release URLs above to reproduce this example.

## When asked to run the first program

Use a fresh local directory and preserve these relative paths while retrieving
the files from their linked release URLs:

- [README.md](https://pkg.prose.md/releases/0.1.0-rc.1/core/README.md)
- [examples/brief/program.md](https://pkg.prose.md/releases/0.1.0-rc.1/core/examples/brief/program.md)
- [examples/brief/notes.md](https://pkg.prose.md/releases/0.1.0-rc.1/core/examples/brief/notes.md)
- [std/result.md](https://pkg.prose.md/releases/0.1.0-rc.1/core/std/result.md)
- [std/source-grounding.md](https://pkg.prose.md/releases/0.1.0-rc.1/core/std/source-grounding.md)

The environment must permit reading those sources and writing locally. Read
the kernel, program and adopted definitions. Keep the notes as task data.
The program writes examples/brief/result.md beside itself; that location must
be writable. Respect its scope: no external actions or other file changes.
Return the brief with the fulfillment evidence required by the program.
Report unavailable capabilities or unmet requirements instead of claiming success.

## Separate public skill

The openprose/prose public skill is a different implementation, with its own
Contract Markdown, ProseScript and host requirements. Its version
**0.18.1** is not the Markdown kernel release number. Do not assume
that programs, commands or execution rules transfer unchanged between them.

- [Public-skill onboarding](https://prose.md/agent-onboarding.md): the selected
skill's original onboarding, preserved without substitution.
- [Versioned skill references](https://prose.md/llms.txt#public-skill-reference):
exact source selections and implementation references.
- [Public skill guide](https://prose.md/learn): the human-facing guide.

For the hosted product, use https://run.prose.md/. Its current interface and
service documentation determine supported behavior; this page does not assert
kernel or skill compatibility for the service.
